Job Overview:
The Scrum Master will collaborate with various product owners and teams to understand and anticipate their needs, translating them into actionable requirements. The role involves providing collaboration, facilitation, leadership, and coaching to support the Scrum Team and ensure the scrum process is followed effectively. The Scrum Master will also coordinate Agile ceremonies, aid in managing product backlogs, and establish an environment conducive to high team performance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with product owners and teams to understand and anticipate their needs and translate them into requirements.
- Provide collaboration, facilitation, leadership, and coaching, supporting the Scrum Team and the scrum process.
- Coordinate Agile ceremonies such as Sprint Planning, Daily Standups, Retrospectives, Sprint Demos, Story Refinement, and Release Planning.
- Define the team vision and create the product roadmap in alignment with this vision.
- Assist the product owner in managing the product backlog, prioritizing tasks based on changing requirements and project timelines.
- Establish an environment that allows the team to be effective and helps remove obstacles.
- Protect the team from outside interruptions and distractions.
- Ensure a good relationship between the team, product owner, and others outside the team.
- Exemplify a Lean-Agile mindset through servant leadership.
- Anticipate challenges, identify risks, and recommend mitigations and solutions.
- Track and report team velocity and other project metrics.
- Support changes and promote continuous improvement to enhance team productivity.
- Collaborate effectively with product owners and end-users to deliver business value.
- Ensure the team practices core Agile principles and adheres to VSP Agile standards.
Required Knowledge and Skills:
- Agile Software Development Life Cycle: Thorough understanding and hands-on experience working with development teams.
- Scrum Master Experience: 5-10 years of practical experience with a solid understanding of Agile values, principles, methodologies, and the development lifecycle.
- Cross-Team Dependencies: Ability to identify and align work optimally across teams.
- Customer Collaboration: Ability to work with customers, understand their business practices, and manage expectations.
- Performance Management: Ability to set clear performance standards, hold team members accountable, and keep the team engaged and on track.
- Metrics and Reporting: Track progress of team performance using appropriate metrics and work closely with leadership to foster a high-performing Agile culture.
- Interpersonal Skills: Strong interpersonal, communication, mentoring, and servant leadership skills with proven ability to remove impediments from the team.
- Conflict Resolution: Ability to foresee potential conflicts and bring existing conflicts to positive resolution.
- Project Management: Ability to balance competing demands for quality, scope, and schedule.
- Process Analysis: Ability to analyze and document business and system processes.
- Certifications:
- CSM Certification required (Must be uploaded under the Reference Tab in Vector).
- PSM Certification preferred.
